Protocol Examples
PepTrac protocols can range from a simple daily dose to complex multi-phase plans with titration, cycling, and analytics-driven dosing. This page walks through five real-world examples you can follow step-by-step.
Not sure which protocol type to choose? If you know when you'll dose, choose Structured. If you know why you'll dose, choose Freeform Structured.
For detailed explanations of each setting, see Creating Protocols and Peptide Schedules.
Examples
- Example 1: Daily Administration — Ongoing
- Example 2: Daily Administration — With Rest Period
- Example 3: Multi-Phase Titration (NAD+)
- Example 4: Interval-Based Dosing (Retatrutide)
- Example 5: Freeform — As-Needed Dosing (Tirzepatide)
Example 1: Daily Administration — Ongoing
- Daily dosing
- Consistent/fixed dosage
- Set administration time
- Ongoing (no defined end date)
Steps
Step 1: From the Home screen, tap + Add at the bottom of the screen, then select Add Protocol from the menu.
Step 2: Select your protocol type. Since this protocol follows a fixed schedule (rather than dosing on an as-needed basis), select Structured.
Step 3: Choose your administration route. The system defaults to Subcutaneous, but you can select a different route if needed.
Step 4: In the Protocol Details section, enter the protocol name. You have flexibility here—you can use:
- A simple name like BPC-157
- A more descriptive name to remind you of your peptide container, such as BPC-157 Pen
- A purpose-based name to remind you what it's for, such as Shoulder Recovery
If you'd like to add notes about this protocol, you can do so in the Notes field.
Step 5: The Timeline section is where you'll set the start date and length of your protocol. Set your Start Date, then enter the protocol length—this can be set in Months, Weeks, or Days. You can create a protocol up to one year long. If you want to use it on an ongoing basis, set it to Autorenew. This means when your cycle ends, a new one starts automatically with the same schedule — your protocol card will show "Cycle 2", "Cycle 3", etc. as it progresses. See Auto-Renew & Cycles for details.
Tip
If you'll be using any phases in your protocol that are broken into months or weeks, it's best to choose the appropriate Units to match.
Step 6: The Peptide Schedules section is where you'll add your BPC-157 and set up your dosing schedule. Tap + Add to continue.
Note
If you're planning to add more than one peptide to this protocol, you would repeat this process for each additional peptide.
Step 7: On the Add Peptide Schedule menu, you'll decide how to enter the peptide you're scheduling. You can create a new preparation or use an existing one. If you choose not to use a preparation, you can also enter a peptide using the Single Peptide option.
What is a preparation?
A preparation represents a vial or pen—what's in it and how it's reconstituted. It can be a single peptide or a blend. When you add a preparation, PepTrac can convert your dose from mg or mcg into units or mL. For pens, it can also calculate how many units you need.
If you skip preparations, you can still track peptides—just in mg or mcg instead of units or mL.
See Preparations for more details.
Step 8: Once you've selected the peptide, you'll configure its schedule. In the Dosage section, enter the dosage amount (for example, 250 mcg).
Tip
If you're planning to build a protocol where the doses change over time (for example, if you're titrating up), you'll configure just one dosage phase here. You would then repeat the Add Peptide Schedule process to add additional phases with different dosages.
Step 9: In the Timing section, enter how many doses per day you'll be administering and at what time.
Step 10: In the Scheduling section, you can specify which weeks and days to dose. Since you're setting up a daily BPC-157 protocol, you don't need to adjust anything here—the system defaults to all weeks and all days.
Step 11: In the Reminder Settings section, enabling reminders will allow PepTrac to send you notifications. You can also configure when they arrive.
Step 12: Tap Save in the upper right corner to add this peptide schedule to your protocol.
Step 13: Once you're back at the Protocol Configuration screen, you can review your peptide schedule and tap Save to save your protocol.
Step 14: That's it—you're all set! Your shots will now be scheduled, and you'll see your protocol in the Active Protocols view on the Dashboard.
Example 2: Daily Administration — With Rest Period
- Daily dosing
- Consistent/fixed dosage
- Set administration time
- Includes a cycling rest period (3 weeks on / 1 week off)
Since you're setting up a 3 weeks on / 1 week off cycle, set the length to 4 weeks and enable Autorenew so the cycle repeats automatically.
Tip
If you were setting up a longer cycle, such as 3 months on / 1 month off, you would select Months as your unit instead of weeks.

Step 9: In the Timing section, enter how many doses per day you'll be administering and at what time.
Step 10: In the Scheduling section, you can specify which weeks and days to dose. To set up three weeks on and one week off, tap the Specific Weeks option under Weeks Schedule. Since your protocol length is set for 4 weeks, you have four weeks available to enable. Check the box for Weeks 1, 2, and 3. The Days Schedule will be set to be active every day, but only within the weeks that BPC-157 is scheduled.
Weeks that are left unchecked act as rest periods—no shots will be scheduled during those weeks.
Example 3: Multi-Phase Titration (NAD+)
- Dosage changes over time (titration/ramping)
- Schedule changes over time
- Specific days of the week
- Multi-phase protocol
- A simple name like NAD+
- A more descriptive name to remind you of your peptide container, such as NAD+ Vial
- A purpose-based name to remind you what it's for, such as Energy Protocol
If you'd like to add notes about this protocol, you can do so in the Notes field.
Step 5: The Timeline section is where you'll set the start date and length of your protocol. Set your Start Date, then enter the protocol length—this can be set in Months, Weeks, or Days. For this NAD+ protocol, set the length to 8 weeks. Since this is a fixed-length protocol, leave Autorenew turned off.
Tip
If you'll be using any phases in your protocol that are broken into months or weeks, it's best to choose the appropriate Units to match.
Step 6: The Peptide Schedules section is where you'll add your NAD+ and set up your dosing schedule. For this example, we'll reference the following schedule:
NAD+ Protocol Schedule
| Phase | Weeks | Dosage | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Weeks 1–2 | 25 mg | Twice a week |
| Phase 2 | Weeks 3–4 | 50 mg | Twice a week |
| Phase 3 | Weeks 5–6 | 100 mg | Twice a week |
| Phase 4 | Weeks 7–8 | 100 mg | Three times per week |
Since each phase has a different dosage or frequency, you'll add each phase as a separate peptide schedule. Tap + Add to begin setting up Phase 1.
Note
You'll repeat the Add Peptide Schedule process for each phase of this protocol.
Step 7: On the Add Peptide Schedule menu, you'll decide how to enter the peptide you're scheduling. You can create a new preparation or use an existing one. This is an example of when a preparation can be very useful! A preparation would provide clear instructions about exactly how much to dose to deliver the peptide amounts you need as you progress through the protocol. If you choose not to use a preparation, you can also enter a peptide using the Single Peptide option.
What is a preparation?

If you skip preparations, you can still track peptides—just in mg or mcg instead of units or mL.
See Preparations for more details.
Tip
Not sure how to reconstitute your NAD+ to reasonably deliver the escalating doses you need throughout the protocol? The built-in Step-Up Calculator is the perfect tool to answer your question!
Step 8: Once you've selected the peptide, you'll configure its schedule. For this example, you're configuring Phase 1 of the protocol—25 mg twice per week for the first two weeks. Everything you enter here is specific to Phase 1. In the Dosage section, enter 25 mg.
Step 9: In the Timing section, enter the time of day you want to schedule your shot for.
Step 10: In the Scheduling section, use the Weeks Schedule menu to choose Specific Weeks, and select Weeks 1 and 2 for Phase 1 of the protocol. Since the protocol calls for twice weekly injections, use the Days Schedule section to set Specific Days to dose—for example, Monday and Thursday.
Step 11: In the Reminder Settings section, enabling reminders will allow PepTrac to send you notifications. You can also configure when they arrive.
Step 12: Tap Save in the upper right corner to add this peptide schedule to your protocol.
Step 13: Once you're back at the Protocol Configuration screen, you can review your peptide schedule for the first two weeks. To add the schedule and dosage for Phase 2, tap + Add in the Peptide Schedules section to configure your shots for Weeks 3 and 4. Select those weeks under Specific Weeks, and select the days of the week under Specific Days.
Step 14: Repeat the process for each phase of the protocol.
Step 15: Once you're back at the Protocol Configuration screen, you can review your peptide schedules for each phase, edit if needed, and tap Save to save your protocol.
Step 16: That's it—you're all set! Your shots will now be scheduled, and you'll see your protocol in the Active Protocols view on the Dashboard.
Note
As your protocol progresses, you may find that you'd like to make some adjustments to how some of your future phases are scheduled. PepTrac is designed to work with you—you can edit your protocol schedules at any time, including dosages, timing, and more. When you've entered all the changes, tap Save to update your protocol, and PepTrac will update your shot schedule to make sure that any future shots reflect your new protocol. Your past shot history won't be changed.
Example 4: Interval-Based Dosing (Retatrutide)
- Doses every 5 days
- Consistent/fixed dosage
- Recurring interval (not tied to specific days of the week)
- Ongoing (autorenew enabled)
- A simple name like Retatrutide
- A more descriptive name to remind you of your peptide container, such as Retatrutide Pen
- A purpose-based name to remind you what it's for, such as Metabolic Health
If you'd like to add notes about this protocol, you can do so in the Notes field.
Step 5: The Timeline section is where you'll set the start date and length of your protocol. Set your Start Date, then enter the protocol length—this can be set in Months, Weeks, or Days. Since this is an ongoing Retatrutide protocol, set it to Autorenew. Each cycle repeats with the same duration and schedule, and your protocol card will update to show which cycle you're in. See Auto-Renew & Cycles for details.
Step 6: The Peptide Schedules section is where you'll add your Retatrutide and set up your dosing schedule. Tap + Add to continue.
In the Dosage section, enter the dosage amount (for example, for Retatrutide you might select 5 mg).
Step 9: In the Timing section, enter the time of day you want to schedule your shot for.
Step 10: The Scheduling section is where you'll configure the protocol to schedule your shots every 5 days. Since you're not going to be configuring by specific months or weeks, navigate to the Days Schedule. Select Custom Pattern and set the schedule for 1 day on and 4 days off. This will schedule your shot to occur once every 5 days.
This pattern repeats continuously and is not tied to calendar weeks or specific weekdays.
Example 5: Freeform — As-Needed Dosing (Tirzepatide)
- As-needed dosing
- No fixed schedule
- Guided by estimated peptide levels
Steps
Step 1: From the Home screen, tap + Add, then select Add Protocol.
Step 2: Select Freeform Structured.
Step 3: Choose your administration route.
Step 4: In Protocol Details, name the protocol (for example, Tirzepatide Sweet Spot Trial) and add notes if desired.
Step 5: In Timeline, set a Start Date and enable Autorenew.
Step 6: In Peptide Schedules, tap + Add to add Tirzepatide.
Step 7: Choose a preparation or Single Peptide.
Step 8: Optionally enter a default dosage. Enable Peptide Level Tracking, turn on Track Level, and set a minimum threshold of 7 and maximum threshold of 10.
Step 9: When PepTrac notifies you that levels are below range, use Add Shot to log a dose.
Add Shot allows you to manually record a dose at the time it's administered, rather than scheduling it in advance. PepTrac will guide you on how much to dose to return toward the middle of your sweet spot.
Tip
Any peptide used on an as-needed basis should be configured as a Freeform Structured protocol. Freeform protocols do not generate schedules or reminders by default. You rely on Add Shot, while PepTrac tracks levels and analytics.
Step 10: Review the protocol and tap Save.
What's Next
These examples demonstrate the full range of protocol strategies supported by PepTrac—from fixed schedules to adaptive, analytics-driven dosing. Choose the structure that matches how decisions are made, and let PepTrac handle tracking, organization, and insight.
If you have an auto-renew protocol and decide to stop cycling, you can disable auto-renew by editing the protocol and toggling it off. PepTrac will confirm and freeze the current cycle as the final one. See Disabling Auto-Renew for details.
