iCloud Backup & Restore
PepTrac can automatically back up your entire database to iCloud, allowing you to restore your data if you switch devices, reinstall the app, or experience data loss.
How iCloud Backup Works
When iCloud Backup is enabled, PepTrac automatically creates a backup of your complete database every time you close the app. The backup includes all your protocols, shots, daily logs, preparations, settings, and configurations. Backups are stored in your private iCloud account and only accessible to you.
Backup Settings
Access backup settings from the Settings tab to manage your iCloud backups.
iCloud Backup Toggle
Turn iCloud Backup on or off at any time. When you enable backup for the first time, PepTrac checks your iCloud account status and creates an initial backup immediately. When disabled, PepTrac stops creating automatic backups.
Last Backup Status
View when your last backup occurred (e.g., "2 hours ago" or "Never"). This helps you verify that backups are working correctly. If you see "Never" and backup is enabled, check your internet connection and iCloud account.
Backup Status Indicators
Active: Backups are enabled and working normally.
Disabled: You've turned off iCloud Backup.
Error: There's a problem with your backup. Common issues include no internet connection, iCloud account not available, or iCloud storage quota exceeded.
Account Unavailable: You're not signed into iCloud or iCloud Drive is disabled in iOS Settings.
Manual Restore from Backup
You can manually restore from your iCloud backup at any time from Settings.
Restore Process
Tap "Restore from Backup" to begin. PepTrac shows you the details of your most recent backup including the date, number of shots, protocols, and daily log entries. Review this information to confirm it's the backup you want to restore.
Tap "Restore My Data" to download and restore the backup. This replaces all data on your current device with the backup data and cannot be undone. A progress indicator shows while the restore is in progress.
After Restore
After the restore completes, PepTrac refreshes your data and you'll see all your protocols, shots, and logs exactly as they were when the backup was created. The app marks the restore timestamp to prevent immediately backing up the restored data.
What Gets Backed Up
Your complete PepTrac database is backed up including treatment protocols and configurations, all shot records (scheduled, completed, missed, and skipped), daily log entries with metrics and symptoms, preparations (vials and pens), app preferences and settings, height and weight history, and injection site rotation data. All relationships and configurations are preserved exactly as they were.
Requirements
iCloud Backup requires you to be signed into iCloud on your device, have iCloud Drive enabled in iOS Settings, and maintain an active internet connection for backups and restores. Backups use your iCloud storage quota, though typical PepTrac databases are small (usually under 10 MB).
Troubleshooting
Backup never completes: Check your internet connection and verify iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings. Make sure you have available iCloud storage space.
"Account Unavailable" error: Go to iOS Settings and sign in to iCloud. Ensure iCloud Drive is turned on.
Restore fails: Verify your internet connection is stable. Large backups may take several minutes to download. Try again or contact support if the problem persists.
No backup found: If you've never backed up before or backups are disabled, there won't be a backup to restore. Enable iCloud Backup to start creating backups.
Privacy & Security
All backups are stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. Only you can access your backups. PepTrac does not have access to your iCloud data and cannot view your backups. Your data remains private and secure.
Configure iCloud Backup in Settings to protect your PepTrac data.
